Cellist 阿斯特丽德Schween (预科 ’80; BM ’84, MM ’85) enjoys a varied career as a soloist, 室的艺术家, 和老师. Since joining the Juilliard 弦乐四重奏 in 2016, she has appeared at many of the world’s great concert halls and venues, including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, the Vienna Musikverein, 柏林音乐厅, Wigmore大厅, Tokyo’s Yamaha Hall, 林肯中心, 第92街Y, 拉维尼亚, 莱诺克斯, and Kennedy Center as well as in Hong Kong, 新加坡, 希腊, 中国, 西班牙, 荷兰, 丹麦, 挪威, and throughout Canada and the U.S.

16岁时, Schween made her concerto debut with the New York Philharmonic and conductor Zubin Mehta, who also arranged a special invitation for her to study privately in London with the legendary Jacqueline du Pré. With degrees from Juilliard, Schween received her primary training under the guidance of Leonard Rose, 哈维·夏皮罗, 钱宁罗宾斯, Ardyth奥尔顿, 和H.T. Ma, with additional studies under Bernard Greenhouse and Eugene Moye. She performed in master classes for Philippe Muller and William Pleeth and participated in the Marlboro 音乐 Festival.

Schween maintains a lively solo performance schedule in addition to her extensive touring with the Juilliard 弦乐四重奏. 近年来, she performed the Elgar Concerto with the Boulder Philharmonic and received recital and master class invitations from 莱诺克斯, the Eastman School of 音乐, Boston Conservatory, Violoncello Society of New York, and Cleveland 大提琴 Society. She has been featured in 字符串 and Strad magazines and on NPR, and was a guest speaker on women in music at the Library of Congress.

Schween is a longtime member of the Lark Quartet, with which she earned the Naumburg 室内乐 Award and gold medal at Russia’s Shostakovich Competition, and her ongoing collaborations include regular appearances at the Seattle 室内乐 Festival and numerous recital engagements with pianist Victor Asuncion. Formerly cellist of the Boston Trio, she was a frequent guest with the Boston 室内乐 Society. Her recordings appear on the Sony, 阿拉伯式花纹, 台卡/阿尔戈, 中国国际广播电台, 新的世界, JRI, 半人马, NAR, 和点标签.

A dedicated and passionate teacher and mentor, Schween is a member of the cello faculties at Juilliard and the Perlman 音乐 Program.
